INA discusses potential of hydrogen in the automotive sector with German companies

Mexico has the potential to manufacture auto parts that use hydrogen as an energy source and will be required for decarbonizing the industry and transportation.

During his attendance at the Hannover Messe 2023, the most important industrial fair in the world, held biannually in Germany, Francisco Gonzalez, the president of the National Autoparts Industry (INA), met with German companies related to mobility to analyze the potential of hydrogen as an energy source in the automotive sector.

The industry leader spoke with entrepreneurs from the automotive sector to learn about the potential of hydrogen as an energy source and the action plans they are implementing to promote it as a clean mobility solution.

Germany is developing a national hydrogen strategy to achieve decarbonization of industry and transportation and reduce dependence on Russian gas. Meanwhile, Mexico is seen as a country with the potential to be competitive in the manufacturing of hydrogen electric turbines, as well as conditioning, transport, and storage equipment, which will require the development of dedicated talent and the strengthening of ecosystems for the manufacturing of related technologies in a market for hydrogen components and equipment production.

INA's president participated in the third edition of the CEO Roundtable Mexico-Germany, which is chaired by the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) with the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin), the Confederation of Employers of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), the Association of the German Industry (BDI), and the Latin American Committee of German Companies (LADW), in collaboration with the Mexican Embassy in Germany. Gonzalez also met with German entrepreneurs in the industry 4.0 to learn about advances in artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality, as well as their applications in the automotive and autoparts industries.
