Mexico's Remarkable Growth in Auto Parts Supply to the U.S. Market
In a noteworthy achievement, Mexico has experienced a substantial gain of 4.8 percentage points in the third quarter of 2023, nearly equaling its year-end level from the previous year.
Among the leading suppliers of auto parts to the U.S. market, Mexico has emerged as the frontrunner in 2023, capturing market share from countries such as China, Japan, and South Korea.
As of the close of the third quarter in 2023, Mexico accounted for nearly 43% of auto parts supplied to the United States, marking a significant 4.8 percentage point increase compared to the previous year. Canada follows as the next-largest supplier, contributing 10.7%, which is just a quarter of Mexico's shipments to the U.S. Subsequent contributors include China (7.7%), Japan (7.0%), South Korea (6.1%), and Germany (5.9%).
